
City of Onalaska
The City of Onalaska is a full-service municipality employing approximately 100 full-time individuals in a wide range of specializations including police, fire, engineering, streets, cemetery, planning, inspection, parks & recreation, library, public transit, water, wastewater, city clerk, finance and city administration, among others. The City consists of roughly 20,000 residents.
The City of Onalaska has a Mayoral form of government with a part-time Mayor, Kim Smith. The Council is responsible for all legislative actions, determining community needs, establishing priorities and policies, adopting an annual budget and hiring the City Administrator.

The Office of the City Attorney provides legal advice and representation to the Mayor and City Council, the City’s various boards and commissions, the City Administrator and other City officials and employees on a broad range of issues.
Led by City Attorney Amanda Jackson, the Office of the City Attorney consists of one full-time attorney and one full-time paralegal, who prosecute cases in Municipal Court and represent the City in state and federal courts, retaining outside counsel when needed.
